Mini Displayport to HDMI is gone.......for now ?

So, HDMI.org, the creator of the spec for HDMI, has decided that Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables are no longer allowed, and should never have been made, sold, used, etc. because they go against the spec.

If you are looking for these cables, look fast online - we have removed ours, other places have removed theirs, and you may be able to still find them on Amazon or eBay....

We still are allowed to sell the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters, but not the cables.

Over 80 new adapters have been added to our site!

We just added over 80 new audio and video adapters to our adapter selection, bringing the total to close to 200 different types.

All of the new adapters are gold plated, and most are less than $1.00. A lot of the new adapters complete the missing gaps, and provide a larger selection for "Mono" connections, so you will no longer need the stereo adapter for your mono application.

We decided to sort these into categories as 200 adapters was a lot to look through. Now, when you visit the adapter page, if you know at least one of the ends you want to adapt, you click on that section to look through all of that one type of adapter.

New Search Feature...

We know that a good quality search result is what everyone wants from an online store. Quite a while ago, we added previous search results into the search field to help you find what you were looking for, based on what other people have searched for. This helps because it's not always called the same to each person, and sometimes you just can't remember what it's called exactly.

Well, now, thanks to Nextopia, we have added pop up search results that automatically populate below the search terms, while you are typing. We have found that, even if someone has yet to search for that item, a few pictures popping up while you type, can be really helpful.

Best sales year ever!

Well, this years sales just set a new record for us, and we are on par still to meet this years sales goal. With 6 weeks left in the year, and a couple of holidays, and maybe some snow days, we should still reach our goal. Thanks to all of our customers, both long term and new ones !!

Although, technically, 2008 sales were a little bigger for us than last year ( Retail was closed during the first couple of months of 2009 ), this year is much better. On Sunday, at 5:18 PM, we just beat last years sales. Just before Thanksgiving, we will most likely beat the 2008 sales and set a record for us. We are on par for the goal we set for this years sales - but it's going to be close with the holiday closures, and undoubtedly a snow day here or there :)

As we continue to add more products to our offerings, we try to find better ways of displaying items. We have added more racks, more shelves, and now, finally, we are adding more space. A couple of weeks ago, I found a way to push the wall back 5 more feet into the warehouse section, opening up 250 square feet for customers. After some brain twisting, coffee induced thoughts, I have figured out something better. So, we are pushing back the wall another 15 feet for a total of 1000 extra square feet of retail space for more products.

Next week we will start selling a brand of cables called NXG. They do much more than cables, but we will only really carry the cable side of their product line. Also, recently you may have noticed that we brought out all of our network cables to the main part of the store. So, now you have access to the thousands of network cables we stock, not just the hundreds. We are also changing some of the displays around, so, if we have 500 DVI cables on special, you will have access to all 500 DVI cables, not just 10 or 20.

We know our customers shop with us because of the selection and the prices, not because of the bells and whistles and fancy lights - so, hopefully you wont mind us bringing some of the warehouse out to the store area.

Also, we have a new box on the right hand column of our web site - it's a suggestion box. We hope you will use it to tell us what products you want us to start carrying.

Short Right Angle DVI Cables are back....

We just received a nice little shipment of some 35" (almost 3 feet) DVI-D Male to Male Gold Plated Cables, with a right angle on one side, and straight on the other. We have these priced at $4.85. These are a single-link cable, which means that you can get 1920 x 1080 (same as 1080p) resolution from them just fine.

It's finally been completed.... after a long month, our site has been optimized for your mobile device. If you go to our regular site http://www.pchcables.com, it should automatically redirect you to http://m.pchcables.com where you should be able to do and see just about everything, without having to resize the screen. We would appreciate any feedback or problem notifications so the programmers at Practical Data can fix them.

New Micro HDMI (Type D) Cables have arrived...

We just received in a small shipment of the HDMI Micro cables for some of the new cell phones (EVO, Droid X) and Cameras. Right now we have to limit it to 1 per person, but in the next week or so, we should have 50 of these in stock, so there shouldn't be any more limits.

New Front Door - New Layout - New Products!

It's finally all complete. We have a new Front Door location. The sign has been moved. The inside of the store has all been re-arranged (sorry, had to do it), and we have opened up more space to browse in. We have added over 100 new items from HOSA (pro-audio), and Mid-Lite (wall plates with gaskets), and even some new cool Datacomm branded products (we are going direct with them now). So, stop by, say hello, wander around and check it all out !!

A little remodeling....

Over the next few weeks, we will be doing a little remodeling. We will be moving our door to the front center of our space, so we will actually have a Front Door, instead of the side door that is being used now. This requires converting one of the large windows to a door, adding a concrete path, and moving our sign so it's actually above the doorway. Internally, it will allow us to better make use of the current space and convert more of the warehouse section that we use, into the "store" that you have access to. Currently there is over 2000 square feet of cables that you can browse through, and we will up that to about 2500-2800 over the next few months. We believe that the new door should be functional and the store moved around to accommodate the new layout, by the middle of February.

New features on the website!

Well, all the new features have been installed, and appear to be working finally. There is now a section called "My Account" that will allow you to log in, save your cart, add wishlists, and even get rewarded for purchases. You can also log in and see your order status, look at previous orders, re-order items from your previous orders, and keep track of everything you have ordered. It's not really that different than what the bigger sites have been doing - we just jumped finally jumped on the bandwagon.

We also have modified the product reviews. So, if you are signed in, and you review a product that you have purchased from us, you will get 2 points for each approved review. That is an equivalent to spending $2.00 here.

We are also working with Nextopia on a new search feature. When you search for a product, the output will be a bit more customized and allow you to narrow down your search.

Around the middle of October, you should be able to take advantage of a new feature we are having installed. You will have the ability to Register and Login, which will allow your information to be saved on file. The next time you visit the site, you can Login, place an order, and have your information populated into the correct fields during checkout. Your Credit Card information will not be stored for security reasons. You will also be able to look at your previous orders, re-order previously ordered items, and create wish lists.

Product Flyers

We are working on creating a catalog of sorts. When you walk into our store, there are individual flyers with some of our products on them. The employees are creating these in their spare time, and I have to say, they look really nice.

Better Lighting...

We have hired an electrician to install 20+ new lights in our Store/Warehouse. He should be finished by the first week of October. Stop by and SEE the difference :)

New Website Design

We have finally published our new website re-design. This was done by Istvan Siposs over at Y-Times. He has done several other modifications to our site in the past, and we thought it was time to give it a whole new face lift. We are still working on the minor details, and moving around some of the links and buttons, but we really hope you like it. Please, let us know !!
